Laura Odasso

Laura Odasso is postdoctoral researcher at the LabexMed hosted by the Maison méditerranéenne des Sciences Humaines de Aix-en-Provence (France) with a project Réseaux d’expertises juridiques. Registres de conscientisation, d’adaptation et de résistance aux politiques migratoires familiales en Méditerranée. During 2014-2016, she was Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow at the University of Brussels with the project Awareness and Migration : Organizations for binational family Rights Empowerment (AMORE). She collaborates regularly as attached researcher with the University of Strasbourg (Group of research: Dynamiques européennes) and as teacher with the University of Venice (Erasmus Mundus master: Crossing the Mediterranean). In March 2013, she defended her PhD dissertation on “The conjugal mixedness (mixité conjugale): an experience of migration” carried out under a French-Italian binational supervision between the University of Venice and the University of Strasbourg. She is a member of the International Sociological Association (RC 38), of the European Sociological Association (RN 35/RS5) and of the network on migration studies IMISCOE. Previously, she worked at the International Federation of the Leagues of Human Rights in Paris; at the Venice Municipality Refugees Service and at Paralleli, Euro Mediterranean Institute of Turin. Her researches focus on legal sociology and family migration (mainly on binational unions formed by European partners and Third Country nationals) especially in the Arab region and the Mediterranean area.
